The 1998 model year received a brand-new interior designed to optimize roominess around its classic inboard engine box layout.

• Lower Profile Engine Box: Correct craft redesigned the engine box and dropped the power plant deeper into the bilge for 1998, significantly widening the walking aisles along the sides of the cockpit.
• Seating Configuration: Rated to accommodate 9 passengers comfortably. It features a deep three-cushion open-bow "playpen" area, a rear cockpit bench seat, and a movable factory jump seat that anchors neatly behind the driver.
• Zephyr Marine Vinyl: Styled with a distinct 90s aesthetic, the interior utilized multi-textured Zephyr bases accented by deep colored piping and traditional Nautique Crest embroidery.
• Ski Storage Infrastructure: Includes a continuous fiberglass-lined ski locker stretching beneath the cockpit floorboard, coupled with an expansive sun pad over the rear trunk for dry gear storage.
• Functional Amenities: Built with a deep passenger-side glove box, heavy-duty gunwale grab rails, an integrated draining cooler, and custom-fit snaps for a two-piece bow cover.

Ergonomic Helm Features

The driver-centric helm focuses on pure analog feedback, raw engine control, and mechanical adjustments.

• Redesigned Dash Pod: The 1998 dash introduced a high-visibility layout featuring a downswing tachometer and dedicated analog telemetry pods for engine oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel levels, and voltage.
• Digital Depth Finder: Equipped with an integrated Hummingbird digital depth gauge built directly into the console panel.
• Keyless Electronic Ignition: Uses a secure, numeric rubberized keypad to stat the engine, eliminating the traditional mechanical key system.
• Speed Management Integration: Many 1998 models were optioned with or upgraded to PerfectPass Speed Control, which controls towing speeds via a physical mechanical servo motor linked directly to the engine throttle linkage.

The 1998 Sport Nautique sits on a modified V-hull engineered to throw a versatile wake shape: soft and flat at high slalom speeds (30+ mph) yet rampy and vertical at slower wakeboarding speeds (18-22 mph).

• Launch Control System (LCS): 1998 marked the debut of Nautique's internal ballast system. Instead of throw-in fat sacks and external portable pumps, the LCS features dual hard tanks integrated into the rear corners of the hull, adding 425 lbs of sub floor ballast activated via mechanical pull valves near the seat bases.
• Flight Control Tower (FCT): This model year formally introduced the original folding Flight control Tower. This heavy-walled aluminum structure provides a high towing anchor point, which dramatically helps wakeboarders get vertical "big air" without rope downward drag.
• Tournament Ski Pylon: Retains a solid, center-mounted, hard-anodized aluminum pylon directly in front of the engine box for tournament-style waterski pull vectors.
• PCM GT-40 Power Plant: Typically powered by the legendary PCM GT-40 5.8L Multi-Port EFI Engine, pushing 310 horsepower to a progressive-pitch 4 bladed propeller for instantaneous hole shots under ballast load.
