SURF TECH:
Surf System: Malibu Creates its Surf wave using SURFGATE, by creating "Delayed Convergence" of the two waves behind the boat. SurfGate is then deployed on the opposite side of the surfer to create a world-class wave instantly.
SurfBand: Malibu has the ability to create instant surf side transfers by wearing and operating a floatable, stretchy wristband called SurfBand.
In addition to transferring the wave from once side of the boat to the other, the SurfBand can also adjust the speed of the boat in .1 MPH increments, as well as control the PowerWedge III position (1-6).
The last feature, and possibly the riders favorite, the ability to adjust the volume on the Rev10 tower speakers....
All from your wrist, while the driver focuses on driving with Aloha.
PowerWedge 3: Malibu's patented technology to imitate additional weight to the rear of the boat, without ballast, is the PowerWedge III. PowerWedge III is a foil that articulates down from the transom of the boat to create a "Pull Down" effect, similar to dragging your hand in the water alongside the boat. The PW3 has 6 different positions and LIFT mode, these positions dictate how much "weight" or "pull" the wedge is adding the rear of the boat. 1 is the most mellow, 6 is the most aggressive, ranging from 500-1500lbs of imitated ballast.
LIFT mode engages anytime the Cruise is set over 15MPH, this has the opposite effect as described above and pushes the rear of the boat "up". This feature gets the boat out of the water and planing easier when there is an aggressive amount of ballast being used.....for a moon launching Wakeboard wave.
Cruise Control: Malibu primarily uses a ZERO-OFF GPS system to track and monitor the speed of the boat down to .1 MPH increments. This feature really gets demonstrated when surfing in choppy conditions and needing to hold a constant speed. Using the "paddle wheel" in these situations causes the constant varying of RPMs in the motor, eventually resulting in the surf wave collapsing.
Paddle-Wheel can also be easily chosen from the Malibu Dashboard when in unique situations like operating on a river or moving water.
Ballast System: Malibu uses a HARD Tank Ballast system with top-mounted sensors for indicating fill level on the screen to every 5%. The Bow, Center, & Rear are all hard tanks, with an additional 550# plug-n-play bag that sits on each rear tank, also with air venting. The Rear, L-shaped hard tanks are designed to fill with the bag once the bottom of the hard tank is full, as well as give an accurate fill reading with the two working in tandem.
Ballast Tech: Independent IN and OUT Electric pumps for each ballast tank. These can be manually engaged from the dashboard, or by selecting a preset. There is not a timer on Malibu Pumps.
MAX Ballast: 4,670lbs is the MAX ballast with PowerWedge III.
The ballast breaks down like this:
