The Malibu Response LXi was introduced for the 2003 model year as the next evolution of Malibu’s famous Response series. It replaced the earlier Response LX and brought a completely redesigned deck, updated styling, and a more spacious interior while maintaining the tournament level precision that made the Response name legendary. Built on Malibu’s advanced Diamond hull, the LXi produces soft, clean wakes and excellent tracking at all slalom speeds, making it a favorite among competitive and recreational skiers alike.

The LXi measures 20 feet 6 inches in length with a 90 inch beam and was designed for balance, efficiency, and driver confidence. The direct drive engine placement keeps the boat centered for even weight distribution and quick planing. Power options throughout its production run included Indmar and Monsoon inboard engines ranging from 320 to 340 horsepower. These engines provided smooth acceleration and consistent performance for slalom skiing, barefooting, and light recreational wakeboarding.

Inside, the Malibu Response LXi featured one of the most refined interiors in any direct drive ski boat of its time. It included wraparound seating, a redesigned helm with ergonomic controls, high quality vinyl, and optional PerfectPass for maintaining precise speeds through the course. The boat’s open bow layout and rear trunk storage made it far more versatile than earlier closed bow ski boats, appealing to families who wanted a true tournament performer that could also be used for leisure cruising.

The Response LXi remained in production through the 2011 model year, when Malibu introduced the completely new Response TXi as its successor. Today, the LXi is remembered as one of Malibu’s best balanced and most refined ski boats, offering exceptional craftsmanship, comfort, and performance that still stands out in the used boat market.
