The Malibu Ride XTi is a versatile direct drive wake and ski boat that combines Malibu’s performance engineering with family focused design. The Malibu Ride XTi was introduced in the mid 2000s as part of Malibu’s Ride Series, which was created to make premium Malibu quality more affordable for recreational riders and families. The Ride XTi used Malibu’s trusted direct drive configuration with an innovative transom walk-through design that maximized space and comfort.
At about 21 feet in length with seating for up to 10 passengers, the Ride XTi was designed to deliver balanced performance for both skiing and wakeboarding. The boat was built on Malibu’s Wake hull, which produces a smooth transition and rampy wake shape that can be tuned with optional ballast systems for wakeboarding. At ski speeds, the hull maintains relatively flat wakes for crossover use.
Power came from reliable Indmar Monsoon inboard engines rated around 320 horsepower, providing strong torque, smooth acceleration, and dependable operation. This setup gave the Ride XTi the performance expected from a Malibu along with efficiency that made it easy to own and tow.
The XTi layout was unique in that it featured a center mounted engine box with a rear facing lounge, allowing passengers to sit close to the action. The interior included durable vinyl, a functional helm, and large storage areas. Many models included towers, board racks, and PerfectPass cruise control, giving the boat true wake sports capability.
Although the Ride XTi was eventually phased out as Malibu expanded its V drive lineup, it remains a respected model for families and riders who want an affordable way to enjoy Malibu performance in a manageable size. Its balance of practicality, power, and value makes it one of the standout direct drive wake boats from its era.
