MasterCraft Maristar 215
The MasterCraft Maristar 215 is a 21.5-foot inboard that delivers a refined combination of comfort, power, and versatility. Designed for families who wanted a higher level of space and performance, the Maristar 215 built on the success of earlier Maristar models by offering more interior room and a smooth, balanced ride. It maintained MasterCraft’s strong reputation for quality construction and inboard precision while appealing to buyers who valued luxury features and flexible on-water capability.
The MasterCraft Maristar 215 was introduced in the mid to late 1990s as part of MasterCraft’s evolution toward more spacious and family-friendly inboard boats. Measuring about 21 and a half feet in length with a generous beam, the Maristar 215 filled a sweet spot between the smaller Maristar 200 and the larger 230. The boat was designed to handle a wide range of uses including cruising, water skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing.
Built on a deeper hull design, the Maristar 215 offered improved handling in choppier conditions compared to competition ski boats. This deeper freeboard also provided a more secure, comfortable ride for passengers and created additional storage beneath the seats. The boat’s construction featured MasterCraft’s high-quality fiberglass layup and composite stringers, resulting in a strong and durable structure that continues to hold up well even decades later.
The Maristar 215 was available in both direct-drive and V-drive configurations. The direct-drive setup delivered precise tracking and smoother wakes for recreational skiing, while the V-drive version positioned the engine in the rear, opening up interior space and producing a larger wake favored by wakeboarders. The V-drive version, often labeled as the Maristar 215 VRS, became a popular crossover option during the rise of wake sports in the late 1990s.
Power was typically supplied by Indmar V8 inboard engines with horsepower ratings ranging from roughly 285 to 320. These engines provided reliable midrange performance and enough torque to handle both cruising and towing. Inside, the Maristar 215 featured upscale upholstery, a roomy lounge-style cockpit, and the kind of thoughtful design details that made it one of the most comfortable inboards of its time.
The Maristar 215’s hull later influenced early MasterCraft X-Series wakeboard boats, particularly the X-15 and X-10 models. While production of the Maristar line ended in the 2000s, the 215 remains a respected model for its versatility, craftsmanship, and balance between sport performance and family comfort. Many used examples continue to be in demand thanks to their durable build, timeless styling, and dependable inboard performance.
