The MasterCraft Maristar 225 is a 22.5-foot inboard that combines luxury, power, and versatility in a family-friendly package. Designed for boaters who wanted more space and a smoother ride than smaller inboards could provide, the Maristar 225 delivers the premium construction, balanced performance, and attention to detail that made MasterCraft one of the most respected names in the industry. With its deep hull, comfortable interior, and reliable inboard power, the Maristar 225 remains a popular choice for families and water sports enthusiasts looking for a durable all-purpose boat.

The MasterCraft Maristar 225 was produced throughout the 1990s as part of the company’s effort to create larger, more versatile inboard boats that could satisfy both water sports fans and family cruisers. At approximately 22 and a half feet long, the Maristar 225 offered noticeably more space than the smaller Maristar 200 and 210 models. Its deeper freeboard and wider beam provided a smooth, stable ride in choppier conditions while maintaining the precise handling that MasterCraft was known for.

The hull design of the Maristar 225 was influenced by the company’s competition ski boat heritage but modified with additional depth and weight for a softer ride and greater interior comfort. The boat’s layout included wraparound lounge seating, a large swim platform, and plenty of storage space, making it ideal for long days on the water.

The Maristar 225 was available in both direct-drive and V-drive configurations. The direct-drive setup delivered balanced performance and smooth wakes for water skiing, while the V-drive version offered more cockpit space and a larger wake better suited for wakeboarding. The V-drive layout, known as the Maristar 225 VRS, became especially popular as wakeboarding gained momentum in the late 1990s.

Power came from reliable Indmar V8 inboard engines that typically ranged from 285 to over 320 horsepower depending on the model year and options. These engines provided consistent power delivery, strong low-end torque, and excellent reliability. The boat’s composite stringer construction and hand-laid fiberglass hull contributed to its durability and long lifespan, while its high-quality upholstery and fittings gave it a refined look and feel.

The Maristar 225 served as an important link between MasterCraft’s earlier recreational models and its later X-Series wakeboard boats. Its hull design and layout were later adapted into wake-focused models like the X-30, which carried forward the same strong ride and spacious interior. Even though production of the Maristar series ended in the 2000s, the Maristar 225 remains a sought-after used model for those who appreciate its combination of comfort, craftsmanship, and water sports capability.
