The MasterCraft Maristar 240 and 240 SC are full-size inboard boats built for families who wanted the space and comfort of a large runabout with the performance and reliability of a true MasterCraft. Measuring around 24 feet in length, the Maristar 240 series offered smooth handling, a deep and secure ride, and plenty of interior room for passengers and gear. The 240 SC added a small cuddy cabin, making it one of the most versatile inboards of its time. Both models delivered the refined craftsmanship, strong performance, and all-around capability that made the Maristar name a favorite among family boaters.
The MasterCraft Maristar 240 was introduced in the mid-1990s as one of the largest models in the Maristar family. Designed for buyers who wanted more interior room and a smoother ride than smaller inboards could offer, the 240 provided a stable platform that performed well for cruising, skiing, and wakeboarding. Its deep V hull and higher freeboard gave it impressive comfort in choppy conditions while maintaining the precise tracking and handling expected from MasterCraft.
The standard Maristar 240 featured a spacious open bow, wraparound cockpit seating, and abundant storage, making it ideal for families or groups who spent long days on the water. The Maristar 240 SC, or Sport Cuddy, shared the same running surface and dimensions but added a small forward cuddy cabin with seating and storage. This version appealed to boaters who wanted the flexibility to escape the sun or stow gear and small equipment securely.
Both models were built using MasterCraft’s proven hand-laid fiberglass construction, composite stringers, and stainless hardware. The 240 was available in both direct-drive and V-drive configurations, with the V-drive version (often labeled the Maristar 240 VRS) offering expanded interior space and larger wakes that suited wakeboarding and towing. The direct-drive setup, meanwhile, provided balanced performance for cruising and recreational skiing.
Power for the Maristar 240 series typically came from Indmar V8 inboard engines producing between 310 and 340 horsepower depending on model year and configuration. These engines provided reliable performance and strong acceleration even with full passenger loads.
Inside, the Maristar 240 and 240 SC were finished with the same premium materials found across the MasterCraft line, including high-grade vinyl upholstery, a full helm instrument cluster, and stainless fittings. The 240’s larger size allowed for a roomy cockpit and a smoother, more comfortable ride in a variety of conditions.
The Maristar 240 series represented the peak of MasterCraft’s large family inboards before the company transitioned into sport-specific wake and surf models. The hull design later influenced the early MasterCraft X-30 and X-45, which carried forward the same emphasis on space and all-around capability.
Even today, the Maristar 240 and 240 SC remain highly regarded among used inboard buyers for their combination of luxury, comfort, and durability. Their deep hulls and reliable inboard power make them excellent all-purpose boats for families who enjoy a mix of water sports and cruising.
