The MasterCraft ProStar 195 is a compact, performance-driven inboard designed for serious skiers who want precise handling, smooth tracking, and proven tournament-level performance. Built with the same craftsmanship and attention to detail that define the ProStar line, the 195 delivers exceptional slalom wakes, quick acceleration, and balanced handling in a 19.5-foot package. Its direct-drive configuration, refined running surface, and solid construction make it a favorite among water skiers and families who appreciate MasterCraft’s tradition of precision and reliability.

The MasterCraft ProStar 195 was introduced in the mid-1990s as a compact, all-around direct-drive inboard designed to deliver tournament-quality performance in a slightly smaller footprint than the ProStar 205 or Maristar series. Measuring about 19 feet 6 inches in length, the 195 was built on a hull derived from MasterCraft’s championship ski boats and offered one of the smoothest, flattest wakes in its size range.

Its direct-drive configuration placed the engine near the center of the boat, creating excellent balance and consistent tracking through the slalom course. The hull was optimized for low spray, clean wakes, and precise turns, making it ideal for serious skiers and recreational drivers alike. The ProStar 195’s predictable handling and nimble feel made it a popular choice for smaller lakes and tighter waterways.

Power was supplied by Indmar inboard engines, most commonly small-block V8s ranging from 275 to 320 horsepower. The boat’s light weight and efficient hull design gave it strong acceleration and excellent fuel efficiency. Its top speed typically exceeded 45 miles per hour, and its smooth power delivery made it suitable for both slalom skiing and barefooting.

The interior of the ProStar 195 featured simple, functional design focused on performance and comfort. It offered seating for up to seven passengers, with a compact rear bench, open bow, and minimal clutter to maximize space and balance. MasterCraft’s hand-laid fiberglass construction, composite stringers, and quality finishes ensured durability and longevity.

In performance testing, the ProStar 195 was recognized for its soft, symmetrical wakes at slalom speeds and clean table through the center line. It was built for drivers and skiers who valued precision over bulk, and its compact size made it easy to tow, store, and launch.

The ProStar 195 remained in production through the late 1990s and early 2000s before MasterCraft focused its ProStar line on tournament-specific models like the ProStar 197 and later the ProStar 190 and ProStar 214. Despite its smaller size, the 195 earned a loyal following for its balance of performance, reliability, and easy ownership.

Today, the ProStar 195 continues to be a sought-after boat in the used market. Its simple mechanical systems, durable build, and smooth wake characteristics make it a lasting favorite among slalom enthusiasts and families looking for a dependable, high-performance inboard.
