The MasterCraft X10 is a versatile 21-foot inboard that blends proven wake and surf performance with family-friendly comfort. Built on MasterCraft’s legacy of craftsmanship and innovation, the X10 offers a smooth ride, balanced handling, and the ability to produce clean wakes and powerful surf waves. Designed for families who want a premium all-around boat, the X10 has been offered in two generations—each earning praise for its versatility, quality, and consistent performance on the water.
First Generation (Early 2000s – Based on Maristar 210 Hull)
The first MasterCraft X-10 was introduced in the early 2000s and was built on the Maristar 210 V-drive hull. Measuring just over 21 feet in length, this version of the X-10 was created to provide the same comfort and family usability of the Maristar while delivering stronger wakes for wakeboarding and other tow sports.
The V-drive layout moved the engine to the rear, opening up the interior and improving wake shape. The hull produced a ramp-style wake that was clean and consistent, making it popular among riders of all levels. Ballast tanks and a factory tower were standard features that distinguished it from the Maristar. The X-10 quickly became known for its balance of smooth ski wakes at speed and large, shaped wakes at wakeboarding speeds.
Power for the early X-10 models came from Indmar V8 inboard engines, typically rated between 310 and 330 horsepower. The boat featured MasterCraft’s signature fiberglass construction, composite stringers, and high-quality interiors with seating for up to 10 people. The layout included a wide open bow, wraparound lounge seating, and storage compartments suitable for gear, ballast, and family use.
The first-generation X-10 remained in production through the mid-2000s before being replaced by larger and more wake-specific X-Series models such as the X-15 and X-30. However, it remains well respected among owners for its reliable performance and crossover capability.
Second Generation (2013 and Newer – Surf-Optimized X10)
MasterCraft revived the X10 name for the 2013 model year with a completely new hull designed specifically for wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and family recreation. This version measured 21 feet 3 inches in length with a beam of 100 inches and a deeper hull for a smoother ride and bigger wakes.
The redesigned X10 introduced advanced surf and ballast systems, including MasterCraft’s Gen 2 Surf System and a total ballast capacity of more than 2,000 pounds. The hull produced a well-defined surf wave with strong push on both sides and clean, progressive wakeboard wakes. Despite its performance capabilities, the X10 remained easy to tow, store, and handle.
Power for the modern X10 came from Ilmor inboard engines, typically the 5.7L or 6.0L options rated between 320 and 373 horsepower. These engines provided smooth power delivery, efficient operation, and reliability backed by MasterCraft’s reputation for precision engineering.
Inside, the X10 featured modern amenities such as plush wraparound seating, a deep bow lounge, and an ergonomic helm with touchscreen controls. Stainless hardware, premium upholstery, and ample storage reflected the same high build standards found across the X-Series. The boat comfortably seated up to 14 passengers, making it a great fit for large families or groups.
The second-generation X10 remained in production until 2016, when it was succeeded by newer surf-specific models such as the X20 and XT21. Even so, the X10 remains one of the most balanced and respected crossover boats in MasterCraft’s modern history.
