MasterCraft X14V Boats for Sale
The MasterCraft X14V is a 21-foot V-drive inboard that delivers tournament-level ski performance, strong wakeboarding capability, and comfortable space for the entire family. Built on MasterCraft’s proven multi-sport hull, the X14V combines classic ski heritage with modern versatility. With its deep cockpit, powerful inboard engine, and premium construction, the X14V stands out as one of the few V-drive boats capable of producing excellent slalom wakes while still offering the size and comfort of a family cruiser.
The MasterCraft X14V was introduced around 2008 as a V-drive version of the well-known ProStar 214, which itself was an evolution of the ProStar 197 hull. The goal was to create a true crossover boat capable of delivering competitive ski wakes along with larger, shaped wakes for wakeboarding and recreational surfing. Measuring 21 feet 4 inches in length with a beam of 91 inches, the X14V offered the performance of a ski boat with the layout and storage of a wake boat.
Unlike most V-drive boats, which prioritize surf and wake size over slalom performance, the X14V was engineered for balance. Its hull design featured lifting strakes and optimized deadrise angles that allowed the boat to maintain flat wakes at higher speeds while producing clean, ramp-style wakes at lower speeds. The V-drive configuration shifted the engine aft, creating more cockpit space and enabling the use of rear ballast for wakeboarding.
The X14V was typically powered by Ilmor or Indmar V8 inboard engines ranging from 310 to 350 horsepower. These engines provided smooth, reliable torque and excellent throttle response, ideal for towing skiers, boarders, and recreational riders alike. The boat’s efficient hull design allowed strong acceleration while maintaining fuel efficiency.
Inside, the X14V featured a premium, open-bow layout with wraparound lounge seating, deep storage compartments, and space for up to 11 passengers. The V-drive configuration opened the interior considerably compared to direct-drive ski boats, making it more comfortable for families and social outings. The helm featured ergonomic controls, a comfortable captain’s chair, and clear instrumentation designed for easy use while towing.
MasterCraft equipped the X14V with optional factory ballast and a tower, allowing riders to fine-tune wake size for different activities. The hull produced small, soft wakes for slalom skiing when unweighted, and larger, ramp-style wakes for wakeboarding when loaded with ballast. Though not built as a pure surf boat, the X14V’s versatile hull could generate modest surf waves with additional ballast and wake shaping.
The X14V remained in production through the early 2010s and is remembered as one of the most versatile crossover boats MasterCraft ever built. It bridged the gap between competition-level ski boats and family-oriented V-drives, offering true all-sport performance in one refined package. Its mix of comfort, craftsmanship, and multi-discipline capability continues to make it a standout in the used inboard market.
