MasterCraft X46 Boats for Sale
The MasterCraft X46 is a 24-foot premium wake and surf boat designed for riders and families who want luxury, space, and top-tier wave performance. Built with MasterCraft’s advanced surf technology and deep hull design, the X46 delivers massive, clean surf waves and powerful wakeboard wakes. With seating for up to 15 passengers and the choice of Ilmor inboard power, the X46 combines flagship comfort with industry-leading surf and wake capabilities.
The MasterCraft X46 was introduced in 2014 as part of the next generation of large-hull surf and wake boats in the company’s X-Series lineup. Measuring 24 feet 6 inches in length with a beam of 102 inches, the X46 offered more space, improved surf performance, and updated styling compared to its predecessor, the X45. The boat was designed for serious riders who wanted professional-level wakes and waves along with the comfort and amenities of a luxury cruiser.
The X46’s deep-V hull was purpose-built for wake and surf performance. Its running surface provided high displacement, allowing it to generate long, powerful surf waves with strong push and clean shape. The boat was equipped with MasterCraft’s Gen 2 Surf System, which allowed riders to switch waves from side to side and adjust wave height, length, and firmness directly from the touchscreen interface at the helm. With over 2,000 pounds of factory ballast and additional storage for plug-and-play systems, the X46 offered one of the most customizable surf setups of its time.
Power options for the X46 came from Ilmor’s inboard engine lineup, including the standard 5.7L MPI rated at 320 horsepower, the 6.0L GDI producing 373 horsepower, and the 7.4L MPI delivering up to 522 horsepower. These engines provided excellent torque for pulling riders and maintaining consistent performance even when fully loaded. Combined with MasterCraft’s efficient drivetrain and balanced hull design, the X46 offered strong acceleration, predictable handling, and efficient cruising at all speeds.
Inside, the X46 showcased MasterCraft’s premium craftsmanship and attention to comfort. The interior featured deep, wraparound lounge seating with room for up to 15 passengers. The cockpit design provided ample storage beneath the seats and in the rear lockers for boards, ropes, and gear. The wide pickle-fork bow offered additional seating and could be converted into a lounging area with an optional filler cushion. The transom included a large rear-facing seat and an integrated swim platform, making it easy for riders to get in and out of the water.
The helm was equipped with a digital touchscreen that controlled ballast, surf profiles, speed, and lighting. The captain’s chair offered adjustable bolstering and excellent visibility, while the helm design placed all major controls within easy reach. The ZFT tower came standard with swivel board racks, tower speakers, and optional bimini shade. Premium stereo systems from JL Audio or Klipsch provided high-quality sound throughout the boat.
The X46’s hull design also gave it impressive rough-water handling, making it a great choice for larger lakes and coastal environments. Despite its size, it handled responsively and maintained a stable, dry ride even with a full crew on board.
Production of the MasterCraft X46 continued through the 2018 model year. It was later succeeded by the X26, which built upon the X46’s large-scale comfort and performance with an even bigger hull and new SurfStar technology. Today, the X46 remains one of the most desirable used surf and wake boats in its size class. Its combination of space, luxury, and wave performance continues to appeal to riders and families who want a premium on-water experience.
