MB Sports F24 Tomcat Boats for Sale
The MB Sports F24 Tomcat was the largest model in the original Tomcat lineup, offering the space, power, and wave performance that made it one of MB’s most capable boats. With its aggressive picklefork bow, deep hull, and signature MB styling, the F24 Tomcat was built for riders who wanted maximum ballast and interior room without sacrificing handling. Known for its hand-built quality and dependable V-drive power, it remains a popular choice among wake and surf enthusiasts looking for a large, high-performance inboard boat.
The MB Sports F24 Tomcat was developed as the flagship model of the Tomcat series, extending MB’s proven design to a larger 24-foot platform. Building on the success of the F21 and F22 Tomcat, this model was created to deliver more space, more ballast, and a bigger surf wave for riders and families who wanted a full-size boat without stepping into luxury price categories. Built in Merced, California, the F24 Tomcat showcased MB’s commitment to craftsmanship, simplicity, and performance.
The F24 Tomcat carried forward the bold picklefork bow design that defined the Tomcat line, giving it a wide, aggressive stance and a spacious bow seating area. The 24-foot hull offered higher freeboard and a deeper interior, making it one of the roomiest boats in MB’s lineup at the time. This extra size also helped the boat handle rough water with ease and support heavier ballast loads, creating large, powerful surf and wakeboard waves.
MB equipped the F24 Tomcat with its signature gravity-fed ballast system. This simple and effective design filled and drained through gated valves rather than using electric pumps, allowing the tanks to fill quickly and reliably. Later versions of the F24 added plug-and-play ballast options for riders who wanted to expand capacity even further. The MB Surf System was also introduced on later models, giving drivers the ability to switch surf sides and adjust wave shape with a simple control interface.
The hull of the F24 Tomcat was designed for versatility. It produced steep, clean wakeboard wakes with plenty of lift and solid transitions while still generating a long and powerful surf wave when fully weighted. The deep-V design provided a smooth ride in all water conditions and made the boat well suited for larger crews and bigger bodies of water.
Engine options for the F24 Tomcat included both Indmar and PCM powerplants, most commonly small-block V8s in 5.7, 6.0, or 6.2 liter configurations. These engines offered strong low-end torque for towing riders and fast planing even when fully loaded. Combined with MB’s hand-laid fiberglass construction and solid rigging, the F24 earned a reputation for being dependable and straightforward to maintain.
Inside, the F24 Tomcat featured a large, wraparound lounge, deep seating, and premium upholstery that reflected MB’s attention to detail. The open layout and high freeboard made it one of the most comfortable boats MB had built to date. Every detail was designed with practicality and performance in mind, staying true to MB’s approach of building functional, high-quality boats by hand.
Although production of the F24 Tomcat ended with the transition to the Alpha series, it remains a respected model among owners and used boat buyers. Its combination of space, surf performance, and reliability makes it one of the most balanced large inboards in MB Sports history.
