Moomba Helix Boats for Sale
The Moomba Helix is a 20-foot V-drive wake and surf boat designed to deliver big performance in a smaller, more affordable package. Introduced in 2017, the Helix quickly gained attention as Moomba’s most compact model, offering full-size surf and wake capability in a garage-friendly footprint. With Indmar Raptor power, Moomba’s AutoFlow Surf System, and high-quality construction, the Helix remains a great choice for riders who want modern surf technology and value-driven performance in a versatile boat.
The Moomba Helix was launched for the 2017 model year as the smallest and most affordable wake and surf boat in Moomba’s lineup. Built by Skier’s Choice in Maryville, Tennessee, the Helix filled an important role as an entry point into the world of inboard towboats. It offered the same proven surf technology and performance features found in larger Moomba models but in a shorter, more maneuverable 20-foot design that could easily fit in standard garages and smaller storage spaces.
The Helix measures approximately 20 feet 5 inches in length and features a deep hull design that provides stability, space, and wave performance well beyond what its size suggests. Moomba engineered the Helix to perform across multiple disciplines, from wakeboarding to surfing, while maintaining efficient handling and fuel economy. The compact size made it easy to trailer and store, appealing to families and first-time wake boat owners who wanted an accessible, reliable option without sacrificing surf quality.
Power for the Helix came from Indmar’s Raptor series engines, with the Raptor 400 standard and the Raptor 440 available as an upgrade. Both engines provided strong torque and smooth power delivery, allowing the Helix to plane quickly even under full ballast loads. The drivetrain was simple and proven, giving owners the same reliability and performance characteristics as larger Moomba models.
The Helix was equipped with Moomba’s AutoFlow 2.0 Surf System, which used adjustable plates mounted on the transom to shape the wave and control surf side selection. Combined with Moomba’s ballast system, which provided several thousand pounds of factory ballast, the Helix produced long, powerful waves with plenty of push. The system allowed riders to switch sides and fine-tune wave shape directly from the helm, giving the boat modern surf functionality in a compact form.
Inside, the Helix featured a smart, efficient layout designed to maximize space. It offered seating for up to 12 passengers, deep storage compartments, and Moomba’s durable marine-grade materials throughout. The helm included a digital display with controls for surf settings, speed, ballast, and system monitoring. Despite being Moomba’s smallest model, the Helix was built to the same quality standards as the larger Craz and Mojo, with a focus on simplicity, performance, and long-term durability.
The Moomba Helix remained in production through the early 2020s before being phased out as Moomba refined its lineup around larger surf boats. It continues to be a highly regarded option on the used market for buyers who want a dependable, easy-to-handle wake and surf boat that delivers excellent value and performance.
