Nautique 216V Boats for Sale
The Air Nautique 216V represents the V-drive evolution of Correct Craft’s well-regarded 216 series, built for families who wanted greater comfort, storage, and wake performance. With its engine mounted in the rear to shift weight aft, the 216V produced larger, more shaped wakes than the direct drive version, making it a strong crossover for wakeboarding and surfing. At 21 feet 6 inches long with a deep hull and wide beam, it delivered excellent stability, a dry ride, and a roomy interior that easily accommodated larger crews. The Air Nautique 216V continued Correct Craft’s tradition of precision construction, with premium gelcoat, durable upholstery, and the same PCM inboard engines that powered Nautique’s tournament-level boats.
The Air Nautique 216V was introduced in the early 2000s as part of Correct Craft’s effort to expand its lineup of V-drive models beyond the popular Super Air Nautique 210. Built on the same general platform as the direct drive Nautique 216, the 216V relocated the engine to the stern, creating a larger lounge area and a rear-weighted running attitude for improved wake size and shape. This design offered many of the advantages of the Super Air Nautique while maintaining a slightly flatter wake and smoother ride at cruising speeds.
From approximately 2002 through 2005, the Air Nautique 216V was marketed as a true family crossover V-drive, ideal for wakeboarding and recreational skiing alike. The hull produced a clean, ramp-style wake that was less steep than the 210’s but more substantial than the direct drive 216’s. The deeper freeboard, added storage compartments, and wraparound lounge made it comfortable for all-day use.
The 216V commonly featured PCM power options such as the Excalibur 330 5.7L MPI or the ZR6 6.0L MPI, both of which provided ample torque for towing. A factory ballast system and Flight Control Tower were standard on most Air Nautique 216V models, supporting wakeboarding setups without aftermarket modification. Many boats were also equipped with PerfectPass speed control, a significant advantage for consistent towing and wake shape.
By the mid-2000s, the Air Nautique 216V was gradually phased out as Nautique focused production on more specialized models like the Super Air Nautique 210 and 220. However, it remains respected among owners who value its combination of size, interior layout, and versatile wake characteristics. The 216V’s V-drive configuration and Nautique build quality have helped it remain a strong choice in the used market for riders who want a reliable crossover that performs well for both boarding and family cruising.
