Ski Nautique 176 Boats for Sale
The Ski Nautique 176 is one of the most compact and agile inboards ever built by Correct Craft, designed specifically for slalom skiers who wanted tournament-level performance in a smaller, more affordable package. Measuring just over 17 feet in length, it delivered exceptional handling, soft wakes, and the same build quality found in larger Nautique models. The 176 combined efficiency, precision, and simplicity, making it a favorite among private course owners and recreational skiers who valued a pure, driver-focused experience.
The Ski Nautique 176 was introduced by Correct Craft for the 1996 model year as a smaller version of the famous Ski Nautique 196. Measuring 17 feet 6 inches in length with a beam of 91 inches, it offered top level slalom performance in a compact and easily trailered form. The boat was about 2 feet shorter than the 196 and carried less weight, which gave it a light and responsive feel on the water along with excellent fuel efficiency.
The hull of the 176 was designed using lessons learned from the 196, refined to create clean wakes and smooth tracking at tournament speeds between 30 and 36 miles per hour. Its wake shape was especially good for intermediate and advanced slalom skiers, producing a soft and narrow bump with minimal spray at the handle. While the smaller hull was not officially used for record capable tournaments, many regional skiers considered it one of the most enjoyable boats to drive and ski behind in its size range.
Power came from PCM’s 5.0 liter Pro Boss GT40 multiport fuel injected engine that produced around 275 horsepower. The lightweight engine matched the hull perfectly, providing fast acceleration, consistent pulls, and simple maintenance. Handling was exceptionally crisp, with instant steering response and minimal bow rise, which made the 176 an excellent training boat and a great choice for short private courses.
The interior layout was simple but functional, with seating for the driver, an observer seat, a compact rear bench, and open storage behind the engine box. The small footprint made it easy to store and tow while still delivering the premium quality expected from a Nautique.
Production of the Ski Nautique 176 continued through the late 1990s before it was retired as customers began to favor larger inboards and wake oriented designs. Even with its short production run, the 176 built a loyal following among those who appreciated its performance and craftsmanship. Today, it remains one of the best small direct drive ski boats ever built and a favorite for anyone who wants a true classic slalom experience in a compact package.
