Built with the same precision and craftsmanship found across the Nautique lineup, the 206 offers soft wakes, solid tracking, and a smooth ride in a slightly larger hull than the legendary 196. The Ski Nautique 206 is a versatile 20 foot direct drive inboard that combines tournament level ski performance with family friendly space and comfort. Built with the same precision and craftsmanship found across the Nautique lineup, the 206 offers soft wakes, solid tracking, and a smooth ride in a slightly larger hull than the legendary 196. It became a favorite among families and private lake owners who wanted a true slalom boat that could also handle cruising and light recreational activities.

The Ski Nautique 206 was introduced for the 2001 model year as a larger version of the proven Ski Nautique 196. Measuring 20 feet 6 inches in length with a beam of 91 inches, the 206 was designed to deliver similar slalom wake quality while providing additional room for passengers and storage. Correct Craft engineers achieved this balance by extending the 196 hull and refining its running surface to preserve the low wake profile that serious skiers demanded.

The hull used the Total Surface Control design known as TSC1 and later TSC2, which minimized drag and produced the signature soft wakes Nautique was known for. The 206 delivered excellent tracking and directional stability even with multiple skiers in rotation, which made it popular at private ski clubs and training sites. The boat performed best at speeds between 30 and 36 miles per hour where its wake remained small, consistent, and symmetrical.

Power came from PCM inboard engines, most commonly the Excalibur 330 5.7 liter multiport fuel injected engine, with the ZR6 6.0 liter available as an option. These engines provided strong acceleration and reliable performance under tournament load conditions. Many boats were equipped with PerfectPass for precise speed management and repeatable pulls.

The interior layout of the 206 offered more space than the compact 196, featuring a wraparound observer seat, removable rear bench, and an open bow configuration in many versions. The deeper freeboard made it comfortable for larger crews and improved stability in choppier conditions. Correct Craft’s attention to fit and finish was evident in the high quality upholstery, stainless hardware, and durable gelcoat finishes.

Throughout its production, the Ski Nautique 206 was praised for its balanced nature. It remained soft and flat for slalom skiing yet stable enough for family cruising. Although not as commonly used for wakeboarding as the Air Nautique models of the same era, the 206’s hull could still provide recreational wakeboarding performance when loaded appropriately.

Production of the 206 continued through 2009 when it was eventually replaced by newer crossover models in the Nautique lineup. Despite that, the 206 continues to hold strong appeal among used buyers who want a larger direct drive ski boat with classic Nautique quality and performance. Many owners consider it the perfect compromise between the precision of the 196 and the comfort of the larger crossover boats that followed.
