The Tige 22i is a direct drive inboard boat designed for boaters who want strong ski and wake performance in one versatile package. Introduced in the early 2000s, it expanded on Tige’s reputation for building durable, adaptable boats that deliver smooth handling and customizable wakes. With its proven ConvexV hull design and TAPS system, the 22i offers a precise combination of slalom friendly performance and wakeboard capability. Its size, layout, and build quality make it a favorite among families and riders who value versatility and reliability on the water.
The Tige 22i arrived in the early 2000s as an evolution of the successful 21i, bringing slightly more length and interior space while maintaining the same balance between ski and wakeboard performance. Built on the ConvexV hull, the 22i was designed to perform well across a range of speeds and conditions. The hull naturally rode lower in the water at wakeboarding speeds to produce a clean, ramp-shaped wake, while at higher speeds it lifted for a softer, flatter ski wake.
Like other models in the Tige lineup, the 22i featured the company’s patented TAPS system, which allowed drivers to adjust the running angle of the hull to fine tune wake size and shape. This made the 22i a true crossover boat that could be used for slalom skiing, wakeboarding, or recreational cruising without heavy ballast or major setup changes. The 22i also delivered strong handling and tracking, making it an enjoyable boat to drive in both calm and choppy conditions.
The 22i measured roughly 22 feet in length and offered a spacious interior for a direct drive configuration. The open bow, rear bench seating, and observer’s seat provided room for up to ten passengers, and the boat featured storage compartments throughout the interior for gear and equipment. Most 22i models were powered by PCM or Indmar inboard engines that provided smooth power delivery and excellent durability.
During its production run through the mid-2000s, the Tige 22i was known for its solid build quality and composite construction that resisted rot and maintained structural strength over time. It helped bridge the gap between ski-focused and wake-focused designs, appealing to boaters who wanted a do-everything inboard without compromising performance in either sport.
Although later replaced by updated models such as the 22Ve and RZ2, the 22i remains respected among owners for its reliable design, comfortable layout, and balanced performance. Many pre-owned 22i boats continue to be valued for their durability, simplicity, and adaptability for a wide range of water sports.
