The Tige RZ2 is a 22 foot V drive wake and surf boat that became one of the most popular models in Tige’s history. Introduced in the late 2000s, it was built to deliver professional level wake performance in a sleek, modern design that also offered family friendly comfort. With its ConvexV hull, TAPS 2 and later TAPS 3 systems, and strong inboard power, the RZ2 set the standard for performance, versatility, and innovation during its production years.
The Tige RZ2 was introduced for the 2009 model year as part of the RZ Series, which represented a new era of design for Tige. The series emphasized modern styling, aggressive lines, and advanced wake performance. At 22 feet in length, the RZ2 was designed to bridge the gap between compact models like the 21i and larger flagship boats such as the RZ4. It quickly became one of the company’s most successful models due to its balance of size, power, and wave versatility.
Built on the ConvexV hull, the RZ2 produced smooth, powerful wakes that could be adjusted easily with the TAPS 2 system. This design allowed the boat to plane efficiently and maintain consistent wave shape across different speeds and load conditions. The TAPS plate let drivers fine tune the wake for wakeboarding, surfing, or skiing, making the RZ2 one of the most versatile inboards of its time.
The RZ2 featured an open bow pickle fork design, which gave it a bold appearance and provided more usable space in the front of the boat. The helm featured clean instrumentation, with later models adding touchscreen controls for ballast, speed, and TAPS adjustments.
Under the engine cover, the RZ2 was powered by Indmar or PCM inboard engines depending on the year, typically producing between 343 and 409 horsepower. These engines delivered the low-end torque required for towing riders while maintaining smooth and reliable performance. The hull’s design and weight distribution helped the RZ2 track straight and handle predictably, even when fully loaded with ballast.
As the RZ2 evolved through its production years, Tige updated interior materials, tower designs, and onboard technology. Later versions incorporated the TAPS 3 surf system, which added even more control and improved wave quality for wakesurfing. The model eventually transitioned into the RZX line in the mid 2010s, carrying forward the same focus on surf innovation and driver-friendly operation.
Even years after production ended, the Tige RZ2 remains one of the brand’s most recognized models. It is widely regarded as a benchmark for Tige’s design philosophy, combining solid craftsmanship, eye-catching style, and adjustable wake technology.
