The MasterCraft NXT21 was introduced as part of the company’s NXT Series, which launched in 2014 to bring MasterCraft’s proven wake and surf technology to a more budget-friendly line. Measuring just over 21 feet in length with a beam of about 8 feet 4 inches, the NXT21 delivers impressive performance and versatility in a manageable size that fits easily in standard garages and on single-axle trailers.
Built with MasterCraft’s advanced hull design, the NXT21 is optimized for both wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Its deeper freeboard and carefully engineered ballast system allow it to create clean, powerful wakes and customizable surf waves on either side. The SurfStar system, which replaced the original Gen 2 Surf System, allows riders to easily adjust the shape and push of the wave with precise control.
The NXT21 is powered by Ilmor inboard engines, typically the 6.0L MPI engine rated at 373 horsepower, paired with a one-piece cast aluminum transmission for durability and smooth power delivery. This drivetrain provides reliable performance and efficient fuel use while maintaining the inboard precision handling that MasterCraft is known for.
Inside, the NXT21 emphasizes comfort and space efficiency. It seats up to 14 people with a wraparound cockpit design, large bow area, and under-seat storage throughout. The transom walkthrough provides easy access to the swim platform, and the standard clamping board racks and Z6 tower make board storage and access convenient. In 2021, the NXT21 received notable updates including the SurfStar surf system, improved dash controls, and refined hull geometry for an even better surf experience. The boat’s ballast capacity increased to over 2,500 pounds, enhancing wave quality without compromising handling. The digital touchscreen interface and customizable presets made setup fast and intuitive for all riders.
