The Moomba Outback V was introduced in the mid-2000s as a natural evolution of the direct-drive Outback. Measuring about 20 feet in length, the Outback V provided a compact footprint that made it easy to store, tow, and launch, while still offering the rear engine placement and open interior space that riders preferred. The V-drive layout shifted engine weight to the back of the boat, improving wake shape for wakeboarding and allowing for a wraparound seating design that created a more social and comfortable cockpit. Inside, the Outback V featured a comfortable and efficient layout with seating for up to 12 passengers. The wraparound lounge, rear sun pad, and open bow created a spacious feel uncommon in boats of its size. Storage compartments were placed throughout the interior, including large areas in the rear that could also accommodate additional ballast bags for surfing or wakeboarding. The interior materials were designed for durability, with high-quality vinyl and simple, functional controls at the helm.

The Moomba Outback V remained in production through the early 2010s and is remembered as one of the most versatile boats Moomba ever produced. It bridged the gap between entry-level direct-drive models and the larger, more surf-focused boats that followed. Today, it remains a popular choice on the used market for buyers who want a reliable, easy-to-handle V-drive that delivers a fun and balanced experience for skiing, wakeboarding, and light surfing.
